Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)
Your DVA status will determine your level of cover, either white or gold. Both cards require a referral from an accepted source.
For white card holders to be entitled to Chiropractic care, they must require a referral from their GP or Chiropractor with the current referral before commencing treatment. The referral must contain the correct condition that the DVA has approved.
Gold Card Veterans are covered fully for Chiropractic care without specific conditions required.
White cards are covered if a referral to a Chiropractor is requested due to an injury sustained or caused by service or war.
How do I access this service?
You must obtain a referral to our chiropractic clinic from one of the following;
Chiropractor with current referral,
Local Medical Officer,
Doctor in Hospital,
Hospital discharge planner.
These referrals are active for 12 months periods only. You must go see your GP or other source for a new referral every 12 months.
What happens when I visit the Chiropractor?
Simply advise us that you are a DVA Health Card patient when you make your booking, and present the card and referral to reception to be processed.
The Chiropractor will determine a suitable treatment plan and discuss this with you.
Are there limits to the number of services I can receive?
Yes, this is up to your treating Chiropractor. After assessing you they will establish the amount and frequency of services you require, as well as discuss the type of treatment you will be receiving.
**Physiotherapy and chiropractic care can’t be provided at the same time for the same condition**
Please advise us if you are claiming treatment for the same condition from a Physiotherapist or Osteopath.
Do I need to pay for treatment?
No, we claim directly from DVA on your behalf. There is no excess charge.
